Clarence G. Mohr

Clarence G. Mohr, 80, of Alexis, Ill., died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at home.
He was born May 18, 1924 in Perry County, near Pinckneyville, the son of William H. and Alma A. Blaas Mohr.  He married Betty J. Valentine on  January 31, 1948 in Pinckneyville.  She survives.
Also surviving is a son, George W. (his wife Cindy) Mohr of Galesburg; two daughters, Carol S. Sharber (and Jim Perry) of Rockford and Linda I. (and Ron) White of Galesburg; a sister, Norma J. Schwarz of Pinckneyville and four grandchildren.
He was a farmer for many years northwest of Galesburg.  He then worked at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg for 16 years.
He was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church, near Cameron, Ill., where he was a past deacon and member of the What-So-Ever Sunday school class.  He was confirmed and became a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville in 1938.  He was an active member of its Sunday school class, had served as a deacon and was on the church board before moving to the Galesburg area in 1961.  He also volunteered to do repairs at the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
Cremation will be accorded.  Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 20 in Coldbrook Christian Church with Rev. Becky Ingram officiating.  There was no visitation.  Graveside committal of ashes was Saturday, August 21 at 11 a.m. in Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
